The regional slot distribution for the M7 World Championship, which will be held in Indonesia in January, has been formally announced by Moonton Games. 22 of the top teams in the world will compete for the majority of a USD 1 million prize pool in the global Mobile Legends: Bang Bang showdown.
Eight more teams will compete in the wildcard round for the final two main event spots, while 14 teams will get their tickets straight from their respective regional leagues.
Direct Invites for MPL Powerhouses and Regional Champions
MPL strongholds will be well-represented, as anticipated. The MPL season finalists from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia will each be given two spots. The champions of China, Myanmar, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Turkey, Latin America, Singapore, and Cambodia will also receive direct invitations.
With the champions from qualifiers in Vietnam, the Mekong region, Mongolia, and Japan joining the runner-up teams from China, EECA, MENA, and Turkey, the wildcard stage adds even more intrigue.
Additionally, this is a significant return for Japan, which hasn’t participated in an M-Series since M2 in 2021. In contrast, Vietnam receives its own qualifying spot, mirroring the enlarged framework initially observed at MSC 2025.
Indonesia Set for a Historic Return as Hosts
It will be a unique homecoming for Indonesia. The last time the country hosted a world championship was in 2022, when the M4 World Championship dominated Jakarta’s Tennis Indoor Senayan.
“The core of MLBB has always been Indonesia. We sense the intense passion and fervor of our Indonesian supporters at every regional and global competition. This edition will be the largest and most spectacular yet because the M Series is returning to Jakarta,” stated Tiger Xu, Global Head of MLBB Esports at Moonton Games.
“The M7 is a celebration of Indonesia, not just an MLBB world championship,” he continued. It shares the fervor of its supporters with the world while highlighting the nation’s culture and athletic spirit.
The Battle for Global Supremacy
The host country, Indonesia, has strong ties to the M-Series. The crown jewel was achieved in 2019 when EVOS Esports defeated rivals RRQ Hoshi 4-3 to win the first title. However, the trophy has remained elusive ever since.
Since then, the Philippines has dominated the world stage, producing five consecutive world champions and solidifying its position as the MLBB’s dominant force. The home crowd will be excited to see if their teams can finally reclaim the title since M7 will be held in Indonesia.
The scene is set: a historic host country, a larger field of competitors, and a prize fund worth millions of dollars. The world will be watching the M7 World Championship in Jakarta in January to see who wins, who loses, and whether Indonesia can regain its throne or if the Philippines continues to rule.
